ABOUT SCDT
Seattle Civic Dance Theatre (SCDT) is a nonprofit organization providing advanced performance opportunities for dancers in West Seattle since 1985. We offer financial assistance, merit-based scholarships, and performances for schools, retirement centers, and local festivals.
ABOUT OUR BOARD MEMBERS
Allison Gross
President
Allison(she/her) began studying ballet when she was five years old. She danced at SCDT 1995-2016. Nearly thirty years later, and she still loves being in the studio. Along with dancing, she grew up assisting in pre ballet classes, running rehearsals, and organizing performances. After graduating from Seattle Pacific University with a degree in communications in 2011, she began teaching preschool. Currently, Allison works as a nanny in Magnolia. It brings her such joy to work with children every day and pass along her love for dance. She is so excited to lead Seattle Civic Dance Theatre in fostering a love of ballet in the next generation.
Haley Stoll
Treasurer
Haley(she/her) studied ballet from 1999 until 2010. She graduated from Western Washington University in 2014 with a BS in Mathematics. Since graduation Haley has worked as a Crew Member at the local West Seattle Trader Joes, a Bookkeeper for Neumos and for the last 5 years she has worked as an Employee Benefits Analyst for Insurance Brokerage firms in the greater Seattle area.
Dance has been a huge part of her life. She found a family and a community at SCDT, and it made her into the person she is today. It has helped her find her life passions and taught her to be both strong willed and vulnerable. SCDT was there to celebrate the highs in each other's lives, but was also there when times were hard. Haley looks forward to creating a safe place for students to grow together through dance and in all aspects of their lives.
Jackie Gross
Vice Treasurer
Jackie Gross (she/her) was born and raised in West Seattle. She began dancing at the age of 3 at Seattle Civic Dance Theatre. She studied ballet, jazz, hip hop and contemporary through her years there. Jackie also loved volunteering her weekends to assist and run rehearsals for younger dancers. After high school, she attended the University of Washington, where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Dance. She has stayed active in the local dance community, and wants to continue to pass the love for dance on
to the next generation.
Addy Forte
Secretary
Addy (she/her) studied dance in her youth and was a Concert Dancer with SCDT from 2010-2012. Her love of the performing arts continued through college where she costumed many shows at the Regional Theatre of the Palouse. She studied apparel, merchandising, design and textiles at Washington State University. Upon graduation she moved to Los Angeles where she works in the fashion industry.
Addy feels lucky to be able to give back to her dance community that supported her growing up. She is providing website support, email correspondence and volunteering as best she can from afar. She is excited to be working with her fellow concert dancers again. Each board member and volunteer is a leader of their own. Addy knows the initiative, kindness and creativity across the board is a direct result of getting the opportunity to dance and perform as kids. She is looking forward to setting the stage for other young dancers to become their own leaders as well.
Aspen Hildebrand
Board Member
Aspen (she/her) is a dance artist raised in Seattle where she began her training in ballet at 4 years old before quickly going on to explore other techniques including jazz, contemporary and modern. Over the years Aspen has spent time training at Summer at Cornish: Dance Program and Pilobolus Summer Workshop Series. She went on to complete her BFA in dance at Cornish College of the Arts. While at Cornish Aspen’s love for teaching grew through an opportunity to student teach with Pacific Northwest Ballet’s DanceChance program in Seattle Public Schools. After completing her degree Aspen spent time working with The Walt Disney Company to further explore her passion for performance, story and entertainment. Since returning to Seattle she has been teaching ballet and contemporary to youth across the city and is excited to be able to work with Seattle Civic Dance Theatre to help support young artists find their own passion for dance and movement.
Monique Wuesthoff
Board Member
Monique (she/her) danced with SCDT from 1988-1994, 1998-2000, and 2010. She loved ballet from her very first class, because she got a compliment from Ms. Randie. (Ms. Randie told her mom, “I get her until she’s 18.” ) She has absolutely loved the arts her whole life, even before she started dancing. She put on concerts for her family (still does, whenever she has a captive audience.) She is a 3rd generation West Seattleite. She currently owns a small business in a male dominated field, previously having worked 20 years in a female dominated industry. She feels that this has given her some excellent problem solving capabilities and a good understanding of how to work with people from all walks of life. She's a professional communicator. As a parent of adult children, she feels that she has a unique point of view on our board that can be helpful in navigating the needs of our dancers. Her goal is to develop and nurture confidence in young people. She also hopes to be a trusted adult for kids who may need that support in their lives.
Katie Frisbie Bunten
Board Member
Katie Frisbie Bunten (she/her) rushed the stage at a PNB fundraiser when she was 2 years old, and began ballet lessons shortly thereafter. She danced with SCDT through high school, and returned occasionally to teach and volunteer. She danced in Missouri with two troupes and always found an intensive to drop in on. Katie might have left dance, but dance never left her — it will always be her first love. Today, Katie is a professional fundraiser, wife and mother to three spunky kids. She lives a ferry ride away from Seattle in Poulsbo, WA.

THE STORY...
On Christmas Eve, many years ago, in a small village in France, a magical toymaker worked in his shop. The village children would crowd outside the windows, shivering in the cold but delighted by the colorful toys inside. A schoolmistress, Mademoiselle Moire, and her charges had an appointment to visit the toy shopkeeper for a Christmas treat.
The toymaker, Monsieur Grendall, readied his magical dancing dolls for the day. One special doll, unfinished but soon to be his pièce de resistance, he kept hidden from all visitors and especially from overly curious and mischievous children. The incomplete Ballerina Doll was stored behind the boutique’s curtains, away from eager eyes.
The shop was clean, the dolls were on display and Monsieur Grendall thought he was ready for the day’s customers. However, he was not prepared for Mademoiselle Moire’s most curious and most mischievous charge, a girl named Annette. The mayhem and magic that ensues is sure to delight children and adults of all ages.
