Seattle civic dance theatre newsletter

We are a nonprofit committed to expanding access to the stage by providing free audition and performance opportunities for dancers across the Puget Sound area. Since 2024, dancers from eight studios have participated in our programs, and we’ve awarded $2,500 in dance scholarships.
News
A total of 18 dancers audition for The Magical Doll Maker on August 23rd. The cast list will be announced September 1st, we can’t wait to start rehearsals!

A total of 15 dancers auditioned ages 8-18
Held our second annual Gift of Dance
6 schools performed in the first half showcase and in the second half, 15 dancers from 4 schools performed in our production of The Magical Doll Maker
A little more about who we are
When we began planning our first independent production of The Magical Doll Maker in 2024, we made a deliberate decision to keep participation free for all dancers. Typically, participation fees for dancing in a one-off performance like this in the Seattle area will cost anywhere from $200 to $500, and often scale proportionally to how many roles a dancer wishes to be in. Because many of our participants are already committed to classes and performances through their home studios, we recognized that additional costs could limit accessibility. More importantly, we did not want to add financial strain to their dance education.
We were enthusiastic about the idea of offering something free of charge to students who love dancing so much that they want to spend every Sunday with us from September through November and help carry on the Magical Doll Maker tradition!
